1 - I'm doing it again!

Is this the second or the third time that I am aiming to do a "page a day for a year" challenge? Actually, is it definitely at least the third time I am trying it. The problem is that for like, 80 - 90 percent of the time the page a day challenge is fine. It is no problem to sit down and take out 3 - 5 minutes to write something down. It is the remainder of that percentage that is the pain. When you have had an exhausting day. When the laptop is in the car and you are in bed. There were so many things that popped up all the time that prevented you from your daily entry that eventually it would snowball and you would crash. Miss a day here, and there. Try to catch up with them by writing yesterdays blog entry right before you write the current ones. Well we will see what happens.

So anyway - today is my birthday! I am 37. I got loads of presents! Pictures from the kids, food, games and utilities. Seriously - its like I was a child again.

So. This is it. Day 1 done and 364 to go.

Spam... I hate spam....

I was really into blogging for a while there but all the spam that you get just makes me hate the whole site so much I don't ever want to blog again...

Not sure what the stuff in the tin tastes like... but online spam sucks!

So what I decided was to turn off comments on the site and have an email address that people can mail if they see the need. The email address will be in the header of the site. If a bot can read that well and good. At least I will not be getting spam to my gmail account.

Please do keep mailing me... now that I have chosen this direction I will see if I can get some posts out again.

Developer Diary # 1

I find the thought of calling myself a developer kinda funny as I have not yet actually published or made any programs yet that people use. I do plan on changing that however. I have begun going over an old game that I was making once for browsers called "Alpha 07". It is a PHP game. Of course when I look back at it now it was crazy the amount of things that I was doing incorrectly in it.

And so, now I have begun the game again... this time I am using what I have learnt in college and I am implementing classes and writing tester classes. Interestingly when I wrote a tester class to test the class that I had written for me spaceship I realised that I had written so many things in a really bad way and it was really confusing.

That was only my first class! I am now going to write a person and world class next but already I have learnt things from my little amount of experience from writing the first tester class.

Oh well, back to work.

Test Your Browser... HTML5test.com

Hi there.. it has been a while since i was on and I missed it alot. Enough of that! Onto browser testing...

Go to html5test.com and you will be presented with a page telling you how well your browser can handle HTML version 5. Why would you want your browser to handle html 5? Well version 5 supports alot of things that make your web experience better... alot better when it is implemented.

So on my computer I have Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome... I have not updated all of the browsers yet and I have run the test to see how they do before and after latest versions of the browser. Now remember the following... these marks are out of 500... ahem Microsoft....

I don't know what version exactly this is.. What is Version compared to Update Version? Stupid Microsoft!

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer v9 - 138 plus 10 bonus points!
  • Mozilla Firefox v16.0.2 - This got 372 plus 10 bonus points.
  • Google Chrome Version 25.0.1364.152 m 463 plus 10 bonus points
Microsoft Internet Explorer v9 - 138 plus 10 bonus points!
Damn thats kinda crap! Microsoft really bad...
Mozilla Firefox v16.0.2 - This got 372 plus 10 bonus points.

Firefox did ok....

Google Chrome Version 25.0.1364.152 m 463 plus 10 bonus points

Google Chrome did very well...

So then I attempted to update the 3 tested browsers again to see what would happen... lets see if the scores improved or got worse!

Before

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer v9 - 138 plus 10 bonus points!
  • Mozilla Firefox v16.0.2 - This got 372 plus 10 bonus points.
  • Google Chrome Version 25.0.1364.152 m 463 plus 10 bonus points
  • Google Chrome on my Samsung Galaxy S3 Android version 4.1.2  - 417 plus 11 bonus points.

After

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer v9 - Do not know how to update browser easily.. fail again MS
  • Mozilla Firefox v19.0.2 - This got 393 plus 10 bonus points. - Up 21 points!
  • Google Chrome Version 25.0.1364.160 m 463 plus 10 bonus points - Same score...
  • Google Chrome on my Samsung Galaxy S3 Android version 4.1.2 - Didn't test yet...

Conclusion...
Keep your browsers up to date.. this test shows how updating can be very useful .. not only from the obvious security point of view but also from the experience you will get from your daily browsing...

Star Wars Episode 7 2015

First off a figure. This is my 400th blog post! Wow...

Ok... lets get some basic math out of the way here...

This is like the 7th of November... so there are 23 days left in November... there are 31 days in December...   so that is so far 54 days. Now we are into 2013 and 2014...  those 2 years is (365 * 2).... finally Star Wars Episode 7 will be out in 2015, and it being a block buster that will make it June... so lets say around half a year into 2015 so that's (365 / 2).
A New (New) Hope....

Now what are we looking at....

54 days  + (365 * 2) + (365 / 2)

or

54 + 730 + 183 = 967....

That's all... I thought that there would never be a new Star Wars film and now I find out that there will be one in a mere 967 days!!!!

Oh freakin yeah....

May the force be with you...

Computer News.... Half Life loaded computer news

Fancy seeing a kind of funny video about a man singing about how all operating systems are rubbish?

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/loadingreadyrun/2516-Every-OS-Sucks

In other news....

Gordon... I'm Alyx Vance and I am beautiful... also Mart, if you haven't played the whole Half Life 2 series your not a real gamer!!!!

Gabe Newell has (un)offically talked about Half Life 3!!!!! Rock on! It is code named Ricochet2 and he implyed that it might be out next year!!!! See more on the link below...
http://www.latinospost.com/articles/3647/20120904/half-life-3-update-newell-silence-due.htm

Now, one of the best games ever in my personal opinion is Half Life... it is still a brilliant game today if you played it on Steam but lets face it the graphics look a bit dated at this stage... soooooo.... the group of modders have remade the game and it should be out on September 14th (this year - that has to be added because I was actually waiting for the game for 5 years so far!). Look out for "Black Mesa", thats the name the brand spanking new beautifully new voice acted, new graphicsed up game.

The risk of sorrow.

I realized today that sorrow is something very particular to me. I am not sorry if I stub my toe... I am angry. I am not sorry if I quit my job and tell my lame ass boss to stick it up his ass... I am vengefull. I am not sorry if I get caught by the GardaĆ with no tax, NCT or working lights at night time... I am thinking kicking myself that I did not fix my car up sooner.

But when I hurt someone I care about or when some I care about has left me...

then...

I am sorry.

Sorry I did not spend more time with them. Sorry if I screamed at them because I really just wanted to hold them and show them I care. And then there is the greatest sorrow of all. When someone passes away, dies. And you know that you will never again get to speak to that person again...

Sorrow I think is a result of having enjoyed something or someone. A result of loving their company or loving them. With true joy comes the risk of true sorrow. Or is it that where there is no risk that there is no happiness or sadness?

The more you give yourself over to something the more you risk loosing. But boy is the risk worth taking.

The Reality Of The News

There have been a few times where I have clicked on a news article only to realise that I have been hit with a paywall. I don't mean thi...
