Last Movie Night :( I think not!!!!!!
 29 Sept 2010

So today could have been a sad day were it not that I do not believe him. Mart said that today was the last movie night. Because it was the last movie night it fell naturally oddly enough that the last film we should watch was Sneakers... Now, in my memory, Sneakers was really brilliant! Full of high tech computer talk, they would show code, talk about hacking... be all really cool and stuff. Instead, they never actually referred to themselves as hackers. They were of course, but that in a way was not really what the film was about, there was alot of "social engineering" going and that was cool. So anyway, that explains the film. It was obviously made by universal. Oh yeah, a quick one. I have actually gotten a bit into making my own, or at least starting a testing model of it, my own PHP browser based game!!!!  Nite

Today I had a really cool day because I did not have to go into work at all because I was looking after the kids. Why was I looking after the kids? Well Linda was in Galway getting a makeover (is that the correct term?). When she came out of Galway she had this beautiful new hair. My sister too had a new hair do and it looks fabulous too :) There is going to be a fashion show on next Sunday raising money for charity, Cope. They are going to be models on a cat walk! So I had a good day and so did all of the girls, so that is good all around!

27 September 2010. Yippee Linda is finished with another issue of the magazine and she is letting her hair down for now. When the magazine is up and running online I will post the address online. It is a good read, I have had a sneak preview :P

Today I cleaned my brand new car. Myself and the kids and my older brother washed off green life that was growning on the outside of the car. We fixed some doors that were not opening properly and basically gave the car a good fresh start. So this picture is off the steering wheel.

Today was a really cool day. We went into Galway and met up in a bar and went from there onto the L.E. Niamh. L.E. Niamh is the newest (started service in 2001) of 8 ships the Irish Naval Service have. We were aboard her as entrants of a poker tournament organised by the Simon Community Galway. So we all saw it as a good cause.

Myself, Mart, Barry, Paul and Marion were at one table and we were dressed up in style, we all wore suits (bar myself who was lacking in a suit top).  Paul however finished 4 last! This is brilliant because he obviously made it to the final table but also he was playing agains't two people that have played in tournaments that have been shown on t.v.
So he walked away with a consolation prize but nothing like the winners prize. I heard it estimated at €2000. Sweet if you won it. Anyway the last picture here is the bridge, we were able to walk through it on the way to the bathrooms. So I took a good few photos.
I believe a good night was had by all. I think, I went home after poker, I didn't go out to the nightclub.

I am really tired. Today work seemed to go on forever. I do not even have a suitable picture for today. Then again, I did begin my day at 9am and I was back 14 hours later... phew. I am allowed to moan, it's my blog and my business :)

34 Years Old + 19 Days

So nothing particularly great happened today. I guess lots of days are going to be like this. I talked to a guy about getting a job, but it was on the other side of town, problem being I had to get to town first.

Linda did her second class of Photoshop. It went well. As I said, nothing in particular happened :)

Took this pic in the cafe, it was quiet so we were sitting in the "smartie corner" having tea. Mmmm, tea....

We have two goldfish. Nemo and Marlyn are their names. Yes, we got the names from the film Finding Nemo. Brilliant film it is too. But we got the fish in the beginning because Mart and Marielle, my brother and his girlfriend, were kind enough to give us the tank. But we also wanted the fish to teach our daughter Sophie about death and that all things die.

Of course the fish were only in the tank I think for around about 2 days when one of them died. So we explained the whole thing to Sophie and we buried the little goldfish and we headed into town and got a new goldfish. Now Sophie loved the Pet Shop where we got the goldfish and so when we got home and put the new fish in with the old one the older one started fighting the new one a little. So we explained to Sophie again that the new fish might also die if the older fish didn't stop fighting it. But, Sophie said, she didn't mind, and in fact she hoped the new fish would die too so we could go into Galway and get another one in the PetShop were she could see the birds, rabbits and snakes again. I think I taught her too well.

Thankfully the fish did not die and they are strong as two little oxes. Sophie has even come to terms with their existance and has even bought them a sponge bob square pants toy!!!! Its actually a really bad photo of poor bob... I might try to get a better one when I have daylight again....

I have realized that my knowlegde of HTML and internet programming is really, and I mean reallly, out of date. I was going on my knowledge of HTML from version 3 basically. Now we have version 5. If you know HTML at all then you know version 4. That is all really, I am doing loads of lessons from a website w3schools.com. It is really good. Check it out!

Today I was at the Grupa Caidreamh and we made a card. That is mine in the picture. I am going to send it to my moms cousine that gave me the car. Tá mé ag dull ag tabhairt an carta go Mary.

I was listening to the radio today and Ryan Tubridy was talking to some guy about the new film "The Social Network". They were talking about Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook creator. So then I looked up Facebook on Wikipedia, of course, it says that there are 500 millions people on Facebook. Now, planet earth has a population of 6,869,900,000, Wikipedia. 6.87 billion divided by 500 million equals 13.7398. So that says that around about every 1 in 13 people on Earth are on Facebook? Wow!!!! Think about it, that's amazing.

Is it a finger with a white lego hat on top or is it Mart doing Ryan Walker in the strangest homage ever. We will never know.
Ahh, Sunday. The socially acceptable day to sit around and do very little. Myself and Linda were talking about going to mass. Well Linda brought it up. We have nothing wrong with going, but Sunday is just... ehhh, the whole day is put off kilter. So we are going to try Saturday evening. There is a mass on at 7pm, will we go then?

Do you ever look at people and say to yourself, my god look at the horrible state of them. But not in a bad way, I do not mean that you look at them and think, I am much better than these people. I mean do you ever look at people and think "wow, these poor people have such messed up lives". I talk to people who lie to my face, make up stories and lie to themselves. You ask them if they have done something or if they are going to do something and they have a whole story at the tip of their tongues explaining why all their problems are someone elses fault.

I think that I have alot of those aspects myself. I lie to myself and to others and I have explanations at the tip of my tongue for when things go wrong. I see all these faults in myself and I know that that is why I can see identify them easier in others.

This is the corner of my bedroom, in the picture btw. I took it when I woke up this morning. So it was a real picture of the day.

On this day, the 17th of September, I was given a car by my moms cousine. It is a Fiat Punto and it is a 1999 car. I am totally shocked by the kindness of my moms cousine. A whole car, she is too nice for words. Mad isn't it. I have a whole other car now! Good also because my green van was not really road worthy anymore.

PC ZONE IS DEAD!!!!

See this PC Zone magazine, it is issue #225. It is the final issue of this magazine. I started collecting it religiously around 3 years ago. It is dead because the game companies are sick of people downloading games illegally and not making any money on their games. Big game companies have moved away from the PC now and they are focusing their effort on the console market.

So today Linda ran her first Photoshop course. I think it well. I believe that she was happy with it, well she was very happy in fact and her students were happy too. I even tidied up the computer room in anticipation of the event, taking away 2 of the not working computers and leaving 8 fully functioning Gaming PCs. Thats all, I have to go now cause we have to be up early tomorrow morning. Finally though, I missed the poker today, I would have like to have gone, but it was all the way in Galway, the other side of the city even. Anyway, next week I will go for sure, maybe.

Yippee, the tooth fairy will call around again. My Sophie has lost her second tooth! Her bottom two eye teeth are now gone :)

Today we had movie night again, we watched Iron Man 2. It is brilliant, watch it. But it was cool because there were two new friends at it, Wallace and Dee. We also watched Failte Go Texas #5 and that was excellent too. Ryan you are my new favorite Actor.

This is interesting. You know that my family had the internet back in 1996. That is really a long time ago. Tim Berners Lee only published offically the first world wide web page in 1994, so we were right on the cutting edge. My brother Mart, wrote his first web page in 1996. Now since then I have wanted to write CSS, cascading style sheets, but it never really made sence. This morning however, I said to myself, I am going to figure this out for once and for all, and in an hour I got it. Just thought I would tell you that.

34 Years Old + 10 Days

Today started off as normal, got our oldest kid ready and off to school, I then went off to work, then... shock!!!! We were closing the boot of the car and our youngest stuck her hand into the gap where the boot closes into. In other words we closed the boot on her... so we took her to the doctor and the doctor told us to take her straight away into the hospital.
All the people in the hospital were great I think it is fair to say. She was x-rayed and the nail on her little finger was damaged but hopefully it will not fall out. But! Her finger was not fractured or broken... phew!
When we were going the last thing that had to be done with her was a bandage of some sort had to be put on her, so they put this mega cute little bandage on her finger that makes her hand look heart breakingly adorable. That was day 10.... the 14 of September.

"for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee"
They said that at one point in the year 200 businesses a week were going under. Was it Stalin that said, one death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic. Enough cliches.
I was looking a bit like a bum over the last 2 weeks, I know I looked scruffy with my O'Neil tracksuit bottoms and mega unshaven. But I am clean again!
That's all, today is really the 13 September, 2010. Bye now.

Peronally that is all that happened, strange things happened to people I know, but this is not the place to be talking about those thing are they.. are they?

34 Years Old + 7 Days

Today's picture was taken late at night... I was wearing this t-shirt all day to show my support for America and New York in particular because today was of course September 11th.
On September 11th 2001 I was in Boston Mass. visiting my friends. I just arrived on Sept 10th and I was really impressed at every turn by everything that I was seeing, the cars, the houses, the people, the traffic lights. The house that I stayed in that night belonged to a Vietnam veteran. What I remember vividly about his house was that he had an American flag hanging outside his porch and that no one else really on his street did that I noticed. I vowed to myself that I would get a flag before I left for Ireland.
Anyway as fate would have it, I heard about the first plane that hit the first tower on the morning of September 11th on my way to Duncan Doughnuts (they were everywhere in Boston, and I had to stop into one when I saw it) after leaving the house that I was staying at. We were listening to Howard Stern because I had seen his film Private Parts before I arrived in USA. He was saying, "Robin, this isn't a joke is it, if it is its a pretty sick joke". By the time we arrived to the next house I was going to be staying in we had settled down in time to see the second crash and the rest is history.
As for the flag that I wanted, I visited my friend who was incidentally going to take me to New York city that Saturday coming (we did not go), and every single house on the road had an American flag hanging outside its door or porch. I could not find one to buy one anywhere, and I looked! So nine years today, and I am 34 years and one week...

34 Years Old + 6 Days

Early this morning in vigorous brushing of teeth my daughters tooth fell out!!!! This is good because it was loose for ages (2 weeks). She was not too freaked out about it at all, whilst brushing the tooth seemingly came loose in her mouth and she took it out and held it in her hand and showed it to me and said "I think that my tooth fell out." Btw, the picture left showed the bottom eye tooth where gap is.

So now the tooth fairy will visit.

I was working in the cafe until late and I listened with envy as one of my friends described the computer course that he was starting on. It sounds really cool, the second year students will be doing some of their work on 3D TV's... class.

I noticed that I can add gadgets onto the blog as well actually so I am going to be testing them out over the next while, but I will only have one there at a time, any more than one silly gadget is too much I think. The first one I have up is called Fish, they are meant to follow your mouse cursor, mine do not really seem to do that, do they follow yours?

If you look closely at the picture you will see that it is infact an increadibly lucky hand that I had that finished off my brother at a poker game we had tonight. He was winning and i need 2 of exactly 4 cards to come up.. and they did. It is easy to walk away from a game of poker like that and think that you understand how to win at cards, but you do not. It is alot of chance with whatever skill you too can bring to the table.
Just for the record I think I won €60.
Today there was a high tide... I went down to the peer that I pass on the way down to my house and the sea level was so high that the water was going out onto the road! There is a word for this in Irish, "lán rabharta".

34 Years Old + 4 Days

September 8th 2010. Well what happened today then? I visited a friend who advised me alot on getting a new camera. I have not got the camera yet but I am thinking of getting a Canon 500D (I think?). But this friend showed me cool things the camera can do, and they were amazing. I'm looking forward to being able to show macro pictures of flies heads and stuff. Much as I like my Blackberry its pictures do leave alot to be desired.

What else about today, ah, today is the day that we learn why America is good, and why it is bad. Bad because of the whole buring the Quran thing. But good because of the news that the University of Baltimore is offering an english class on Zombies!

Finally, I was at "Wednesday Night Movie Night" at my brothers place, and we saw "The Knowing" starring Nichlos Cage. It was a good film because it explores the notion of determinism vs freewill. To which end I believe that everything is determined, our paths are laid out for us, but because we can not tell the future we think we have free will!

That simple... Speaking of which, the universe determined 12.5 billion years ago that I should end day 4... NOW!

34 Years Old + 3 Days

You know what there are a few things that are starting to tic me off, one is this website. If you select all the text that you have written the whole thing disappears!!!! What the hell is that about!!! Fix this problem google and blogger!

Second thing is obviously the price petrol... how expensive, when you think about it, will petrol get before people say, "screw this, I'm going electric!" So that is the petrol crysis fixed, now do we go nuclear. Also, when the oil runs out, will we still have plastic? Or will we have bigger problems.

Anyway, this is day three of my project of recording my 34th birthday. Only 361 to go is it?

So today I went to work as normal, there were a few people in the cafe which was good. Anyway I was finished at 6pm and i was home in time for dinner and I was able to spend time with the kids. Here is one of my kids... Also, I went into Galway with some friends and we looked at Scott Pilgram again....

34 Years Old + 1 Day

Today I went to the cinema and saw "Scott Pilgram vs The World". It was very good. Also we cleaned up a bit after the big mess of the 4th of September.... This post was meant for the 5th but you might notice that it was done a few days after the 4th.
So the picture is of the inside of the guys toilets in the eye cinema. Yep, not many people take pictures of toilets, as a part of normal life. But going to the toilet is normal so there I go.
